Xtremeline Baseball Wins Fall Classic

Xtremeline Baseball Fall Team 2012

The Xtremeline Baseball Fall baseball team beat Somerset Academy in the championship game of the Broward HSBN Tournament played at Flanagan High School on Tuesday.

Team Xtreme’s Gary Matis crossed the plate first in the third inning on an aggressive double steal from second base, and the blue and red never looked back. Xtremeline’s freshman pitching ace, Roger Garcia went 5 and 1/3 innings while giving up 1 run to record the win.

Garcia was relieved by Lexie Pogrebnov in the sixth with runners at first and third and one out, the youngest member of Team X calmly induced back to back outs to limit any scoring by the West Pines team. Offensively, Xtremeline’s bats were making solid contact all night with every player on the roster contributing hits and solid base running.

Alex Voladeris jumped started the scoring frenzy in the fourth with a deep blast to left center as X never looked back. Sophomore righty, Juan Rosa finished the night on the mound for X and recorded a 1,2,3 sixth inning and the ensuing championship trophy. Short stop, Guermo Salas was named tournament MVP in a close voting with fellow X member Matis.

Congratulations Team X!
